Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
4,5⭐/5 — I NEED MORE

— ❝ You must enter where you fear to tread ❞

When I bought it, I didn't know it'll only contain Chaol and Nesryn's journey in The Southern Continent. When I read the description, I think there's a little bit of my excitement vanished. Honestly Chaol wasn't my favorite but I didn't hate him, I just like him but I wasn't thought that I can read a whole book about his story. But after reading Empire of Storms, I couldn't wait to pick up Tower of Dawn. How glad I am when I finished this book as my first read this month. Tower of Dawn is another proof that I shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Chaol and Nesryn go to a land in the south to seek aid and heal Chaol's injury. Little did they know that their journey not only will be difficult but also dangerous and challenging. Ancient secrets, glorious empire, and malice darkness. Will they be able to help their friends in the north or will they failed and bring doom to the world instead?

Things already heated start from page 1 and I don't think I was breathing while reading this book. EVERYTHING WAS BEYOND MY EXPECTATION! The beautiful land of Southern Continent, the greatness of ruk riders in Talvan Mountain, the ancient Torre Tower , also the secrets and darkness that lurk beneath those amazing places. Beside visiting new places, I also met with new characters (some if them are super cool!) There's the strong and talented healer Yrene Towers, the brave and smart warrior Prince Sartaq (he seems to try to sliding into my list of favorite character), the sweet and kindhearted Prince Kashin, the badass women Borte and Princess Hasar, and the mysterious Falkan. I also want to talk about the development of Chaol and Nesryn. In the previous books, Chaol might seem ordinary. But in Tower of Dawn, I learned A LOT about him that makes me rethink any negative thoughts about him. I know he's a good person and through this book I give my respect to him. And as for Nesryn, she's finally showing the real she that turns out to be an amazing, brave, and generous person. I'm glad I got to know her more because I was curious about her and now I want MORE of her.

Now, about the plot and storyline. Okay let me say this because I can't think of anything else, I SUFFERED ON EACH PAGE BUT I LOVE AND SAVOUR EVERY MOMENT. There's so many unexpected things happened and I was trying hard to keep up. It was hard to stunned too long because I was curious so I had to continue while the wound in my heart has yet to heal. That wound only getting deeper and I got nothing left to feel and to think when I'm done. So many secret, mystery, and puzzle I had to sort through together with the characters. It was like riding a rollercoaster, your fear and excitement collapsed and created this new feeling. And the last chapter of the book, oh my! SJM really want me to suffer and smile through every bits of the pain.

Overall, I REALLY ENJOY TOWER OF DAWN! Beautifully written, challenging journey, amazing places, interesting characters, and plot twists! Tower of Dawn suddenly became my favorite book of ToG series along with Queen of Shadows. If you haven't read this book and or the series, I recommend you to check them out!
