Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

challenging dark inspiring sad medium-paced

5.0

This book clearly and profoundly codified some things that I have been sort of blindly wading towards in my own life.

It is an account of the author's experience in Nazi concentration camps, but he gives the account as illustrations of his own theory of "man's search for meaning." The second part of the book is an explanation of the philosophy that he seeks to first show through example in the beginning half.

I have read bits and pieces of this in sources as far-flung as The Happiness Project and 12 Rules for Life. I wish I had skipped all those and read this book first. It would have saved me a lot of time and effort.

I can't really do a good job of summarizing the ideas here, but I think you should read this book.
