This book is going to be hard for me to review because I love it so much that I don't know how to put it into words. This book is phenomenal. It was not at all what I expected in the best way possible. I now STAN Jane and August and I have such a book hangover knowing that there's not more content about them to dive into.
This book is so fun and funny, but also a beautiful love story. The friend group gave me Honey Girl vibes and I love this band of misfits and how dedicated they are to each other. August is such a loveable and relatable main character, and so easy to root for.
I truly don't know how Casey McQuiston is such an amazing writer but I am ready for her 3rd book!
Updated review upon re-read:
This book was my top book of 2021 and I decided to read it in 2023 because I missed CMQ's writing about a group of friends. Every time they do it, I feel like the characters become my friends. I'm excited to announce that this book still holds up 2 years later and it still is my favorite book. The friendship and found family is just everything to me and I will love this book forever.
Favorite Quotes:
"She says she loved every girl like summer: bright and warm and fleeting, never too deep because she'd be gone soon."
"'The first time I saw her, she was covered in coffee and smelled like pancakes, and she was beautiful like a city you always wanted to go to, like how you wait years and years for the right time, and then as soon as you get there, you have to taste everything and touch everything and learn every street by name. I felt like I knew her. She reminded me who I was.'"
