The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas Jr.

challenging dark emotional sad

4.0

i bought this book originally because i found out Moulin Rouge was based on it, but it’s now been on my shelf for about a year so i finally decided to read it. i wasn’t disappointed at all! i was gripped quite quickly by the characters from the beginning, and grew quite attached by the end of what is a relatively short book, especially the final handful of chapters which included
Marguerite’s diaries leading up to her death,
a really enjoyable book with some pretty prose, would definitely recommend even if you haven’t heard of it or any of its adaptions.
