The Bluestockings: A History of the First Women's Movement by Susannah Gibson
informative
medium-paced
4.25
I knew noting about the Bluestockings going into this book and was pleasently surprised by it.
The author gives a nuanced and in-depth look into the women who were part of the Bluestockings. Each chapter is mainly dedicated to one woman illustrating her struggles, joys and sometimes her own ignorance. The book discusses discrimination, prejudices and classism.
Thanks to W. W. Norton & Company for this advance reader copy.
