Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore
3.0
This one was not as good as her previous "Oona Out of Order" which I loved. That one established right away that there was supernatural and unexplainable things going on. Acts of Violet was too ambivalent. Was it magic tricks, astral planes, government cover up or fraud? Violet is made out to be this incredibly narcissistic person with little redeeming qualities and poor Sasha was the good girl. I would argue that Sasha was a pain too. She kept things from her family to "protect" them. I was glad that her husband was always honest and up front with her and told her when Violet pulled some of her shenanigans. I did enjoy the way the story was told, through first person chapters by Sasha, podcasts, e-mails and texts. When Sasha was told at the end that she was a martyr but complained about it I thought, yup that pretty much sums her up. The ending was okay.
