Well.... it's a good book. It's funny, and I can see it as a gateway book to more mature mysteries and adventure stories for middle schoolers. But honestly, there was so much hype about this book that I assumed I was going to be whisked away in the way that some books get me, you know? And in the end, it was just a book. But it was well written and funny and I can see why younger readers would enjoy it. Interestingly, I've had a few librarians tell me that there just aren't any other books like Holes. Anyone have any suggestions?
