This book reminded me a lot of Spear by Nicola Griffith and The Well by Jake Wyatt, and I think if you liked either of those, this one is for you. Marra is such an interesting and relatable main character, at least for me (it may or may not be all the needlecrafts), and her internal monologue paralleled my own in more places than I'd like to admit. The rest of the ensemble were also awesome, and there was no one character I felt should have been excluded, which is usually the case with ensembles like this. There was also a lot of commentary about fairytales and their relation to real conflicts, which I enjoyed.

(For wonder_madeleine's 2023 reading challenge. Prompt 3: a book with a dog on the cover or in the summary. The dog in question is Bonedog and he rocks! This book also has the most complicated answer to "Does the dog die?" I've ever read.)
