"Not a mystery reader," but this is the second book in the Longmire series, there isn't "character development" per se, the protagonists' characters are relatively established. They are comfortable to read though, engaging and interesting and this second book's plot line was good for showing their characters to advantage.
Well written, and good descriptions of the history, culture, social issues in the part of the country described.
