I counted down the days for months leading to this one’s release - and it was worth the wait. So many things are wonderful about this - the sentence level writing, the complex story, the even more complex characters, the gentle movement through time. This book - while being so far out of the ordinary - let’s you experience (and makes your feel) these characters’ day-to-day lives through their extraordinary circumstances. It’s completely unique from The Mothers, but with everything you love about Brit Bennett’s writing (and probably even a bit better). I already can’t wait for the next one from her.
