Caught Up by Liz Tomforde

4.0

Caught up by Liz Tomforde is a sports romance, with tropes such as: single dad, professional baseball pitcher x pastry chef, coach’s daughter, and the nanny x single parent relationship trope.

Kai, the starting pitcher for his team, was told that he had a son when Max (his son) was 6 months old, and that the mother wanted out. He’s been trying to balance being present for his son, and his professional career. He has a history of firing nannies for any reason at all, and it’s caused quite a bit of stress on his team and coach as he struggled to find childcare he can trust. Kai’s situation is explained in the previous book in the series, The Right Move.

His coach, whose daughter Miller is a professional pastry chef and has the summer off, comes up with the brilliant idea to have his daughter watch Kai’s son, Max, until the summer is over and Kai can take time to find more permanent childcare.

I really enjoyed Kai and Miller together, and of course, their dynamic together with Max. Kai is the steady, dependable one, where Miller is a free spirit. Miller does such a great job at getting Kai to loosen up about things, and Kai is great at being a constant for Miller, being a force that gets her thinking about staying put in one place for once. And Max, Kai’s son, was just adorable!

This book was such a fun read! I devoured this story from start-to-finish in less than 24 hours. The only thing I would have preferred would have been to see some more tension and frustration between Kai and Miller in the beginning of the book, given Kai’s history with firing nannies. Other than that, I don’t have any critiques. This was an easy read that had me smiling in several spots! If you like sports romance, give Caught Up a go!

Thank you, Liz and team, for the ARC! This review reflects my own thoughts and feelings. A free copy of the ebook was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.
