Love Her Wild by Atticus Poetry

5.0

"She was afraid of heights, but she was much more afraid of never flying."

I fucking loved this. I've been in the mood to read some poetry lately and I've heard nothing but good things about this poetry collection, so I decided to give it a go, and I am so impressed and stunned by how much I loved this. Sure, some of these poems are forgettable and pretentious and not that great, but there are so many amazing and gorgeous poems. I love that this collection is divided into three sections: Love, Her, and Wild. The first section has poems all centered around love, the second section is all poems about a girl and all include the word 'her' or 'she', and then the last section 'wild' includes poems about life and youth and everything else. This collection features some truly stunning black and white photography that fits the mood of the poems so well.

"Love could be labeled poison and we'd drink it anyways."

I listened to Taylor Swift's new album reputation while I read this and it really made it the perfect experience for me and probably contributed to how much I loved this book, not gonna lie. I know a lot of people probably don't like these poems because some of them are so simple and basic, but I really enjoyed almost all of them. In the goodreads description this book is said to have the most "tattoo-able" quotes which is something I definitely agree with. I definitely feel the urge to tattoo half of these poems. There are so many gorgeous quotes about love and life and youth, you really just have to read it for yourself to know, but here are some of my favorites:

"Depression is being color blind and constantly being told how colorful the world is."

"We let our lives mix with our dreams like two colored paints until we don't know which was what and we didn't care."

"Love is diving headfirst into someone else's confusion and finding that it all makes sense."

"She was cool - the whole world seemed to spin around her in smooth jazz."

"A sky full of stars and he was staring at her."

"I woke up from the daydream of my twenties in a cold sweat, anxious for all the lives I hadn't lived."

If any of these quotes sound beautiful or interesting to you then I strongly suggest picking up this book, I was really inspired and blown away by how much I enjoyed this. Definitely my favorite collection of poetry I've read so far; these poems really made me feel.
