The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
1.0
It has taken my three attempts to read this book and what a book. It's 547 of almost solid text and it's very heavy going in most parts. There were parts that were easy to read, and even enjoyable, but they were too few to make this book a pleasure to read. It was a struggle to complete.
I constantly wondered what the book was about and in the end I still don't know as the book is almost a collection of different stories all joined together. I found it disjointed and hard to follow as it just didn't seem to follow any of the rules of grammar most books follow. There are strong over tones of religion running through the book and the controversy this caused is easy to understand, but it can in no way be condoned. That kind of reaction is completely intolerable.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
