This book was kind of weird. I’ve read stories where the characters find themselves in a war torn land suddenly but this one just wasn’t doing anything for me. I didn’t like Daisy and as the whole story is told from her perspective it makes sense why I didn’t like the book. She goes to England to stay with her aunt and cousins and they quickly end up adultless as her aunt went away for business. They relish in the freedom of not having anyone around to tell them what to do but the war is like an abstract thought in their mind even though they are now being rationed for food and people have overtaken their farm. Things only become real to them once they are split up. Also what was with Daisy falling for her cousin?? It just seemed so random, the situation didn’t feel like it called for it.
