The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

4.0

“Storms are less fickle than they are, seas less capricious.”

“They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire.”

“His eyes are bright as coals, his hatred a living thing, shimmering in the air between us like the air above black rocks on a blazing summer day.”

“The more they get away with, the more they believe they’re entitled to have.”

The book had a somewhat uneventful start, I almost expected it to be a laidback read. But things started to pick up and events started to unfold one after the other until I was met with some unexpected outcomes. I really enjoyed this book, it felt very comforting despite some uncomfortable scenes. I also really enjoyed the character development and their relationships with each other, whether negative or positive. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
