i like the concept but felt it lacking in execution and commitment. the family dynamics were interesting so i wished there were more scenes of them as a family. i also liked the characters and their individual struggles because it shows more of their personality, adding to the verisimilitude of the book. however, i found the writing inconsistent and a bit overdone in some scenes, which made me bored. there was no intrigue in the book nor was there a driving force, so it was quite dull at times to read it. i got through this by reading one chapter every night before going to bed because it made me sleepy.
