Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

4.0

4.25/5. Physical book. My daughter's name is Olive and I have tasked myself with reading books about characters with the same name. Olive Kitteridge was such an enjoyable book. It is easy to see why this book won a Pulitzer Prize. I loved the formatting of the book. It was almost like a book of short stories intertwined because, in some way or another, they all knew Olive. Her character was firm, no nonsense type who said what she felt she needed to. She was a strong character and sometimes came off as very brazen and uncaring. I really liked her. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. The themes were universal and so relatable. Truly good writing, I think, is about the ability to relate to your readers in some way and this book does just that. I'm on my way to Amazon to order Olive, Again!
