all for the game reads like a tumblr-esque fanfic that's been packed to the brim with tropes. regardless of this—i will eat it up every single time. without fail. does it make sense? absolutely not. is the writing good and coherent? no idea! but it's my bread and butter and i'll be obsessed with andrew until the day i die. all for the game may be nonsensical tumblr fanfic, but it's /my/ nonsensical tumblr fanfic.
why is the mafia here? why does the made-up sport they play make zero sense? why are underage kids allowed into a bar without question? why is there something wrong with literally each and every one of them? why are they snorting fucking crackers? i don't care. all for the game makes sense to me and that's all that matters.
this is one of the few books i rate based on pure enjoyment alone, because i'm aware of how mediocre it is. i can't find it in myself to care about how silly it is altogether, especially when i'm so fond of it.
