The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison
4.0
A fun, fast read that I mowed through during a lady-doctor visit (and subsequent trip to the emergency room for a transfusion. Turns out I WASN'T crazy when I complained of wooziness and being extraordinarily tired!)
This was perfect to keep my mind off whatever the heck was going on with me. Slippery Jim is a con man, an artist of the trade. He can finagle his way into any bank and out of any situation. What I especially loved about this book was that the MC was clever, but neither indestructible nor omniscient. The plot twists TWISTED. I would definitely read this one again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, upbeat classic of the paperback sci-fi age!
