Former novelist Lily Albrecht's life is shattered by her husband's Alzheimer's. Desperate for a change, she embarks on a dangerous quest to find a rare occult book with a mysterious buyer. Teaming up with a colleague, she uncovers a dark ritual involving sex and murder. However, the novel is overwhelmingly repetitive, filled with mundane details about meetings and transactions. The plot is overshadowed by uncomfortable, poorly executed sex scenes that lack any eroticism.
