Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

5.0

BROOOOOOOOOO, this book??? This book right here???? Definitely in my top five favorite books. Aiden Thomas, you fucking got me good!! I’m CRYING!! AAAAAA

It was such a beautiful experience being enveloped in this amazing and rich culture, and Yadriel was a lovely narrator. He was messy, emotional, strong, impulsive, and raw, and his journey of wanting acceptance for who is he resonated so strongly with me.

LISTEN, I LOVE JULIAN AND YADRIEL SO SO MUCH!!! They have such amazing chemistry and Julian’s absolute lack of hesitation when Yadriel came out to him made me cry. It’s the sort of acceptance I crave as someone who is trans and wanting to exist without people questioning my identity. It was a small but impactful moment in a book about a trans boy having to validate his place in his culture.

Also, Maritza??? ABSOLUTE MVP!!!!!!! I WOULD DIE FOR HER!!!! Donatello and Michelangelo?? I WOULD ALSO DIE FOR THEM!!!!!!!

Please read this. It’s worth it.
