The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
5.0
Well more like 4,5 stars. In the beginning I was pretty doubtful about this book, but it turned out pretty awesome. I mean the first 100 pages or so I felt like I was reading a teenage drama rather than fantasy, but as soon as that stopped, it just became quite amazing. I get that the author wanted to show how was Jude and her twin segregated from the collective and basically everybody around them, but she didn't have to make it this over-dramatic or at least not so childish looking.
It took some getting used to to Jude, but once I did I wasn't able to let her leave my heart. Once you understand her a bit better she becomes somehow unexplainably relatable. Maybe it started when I saw her joy over knowing the right answers in class and therefore showing Cardan how good she actually is or maybe when she realised how hard she must fight to get what she wants.

I mean Jude isn't exactly the best role model (or even a good one for that matter) I am just saying that I like the way she thinks. I especially like this one quote of hers:
Isn't this just perfection… ok maybe no, but my weird brain loves this.

Then there was the starting romance between the our main OTP and of course who wouldn't ship it. I like that this is one of the very few books where the progress in the relationship is quite steady. Of course they have their ups and downs, but still it isn't any insta love. And even despite the latest events I still ship it (honestly, who wouldn't).
Last but definitely not least, I loved the ending. I was predicting this would happen, but then Holly Black put there another plot twist and I was like: Ok, so maybe I was wrong. Nevermind… But then the thing I was predicting in first place happened and I felt like I knew it but at this point I really didn't see it coming although it was the only possible explanation…

The only thing from stopping me buying the next book is that it's stupid three centimetres higher than this one and it would ruin my whole library so thanks but no thanks. Anyway I have to still hope that another edition comes out soon. And I mean I need it really soon.
