Book #26 of 2024: This is book 1 of a series. It is by Mindy Starns Clark AND Leslie Gould. Goodreads isn’t including the latter.

This book had been unread on my Kindle for a long time. Part of my reasoning for doing reading challenges was to get through some of my unread piles. Kindle piles are somewhat invisible compared to a physical pile. Sadly though, I had to push to get through this book at times.

What I did like was learning more about the differences between Mennonite and Amish communities. While I don’t agree with some things, I can respect and appreciate others. I also learned a lot about midwifery.

Unfortunately I found this book to be longer than it needed to be. I had to push through to finish at times. The story felt a little convoluted or overdone. There were too many offshoot branches to this story. Therefore, I won’t be continuing this series. Also, I felt it was poorly titled. The FMC was a nurse-midwife and was only working with the Amish a short time. If this was Marta’s story, that would be a good title.

I enjoyed aspects but didn’t find myself invested.
