It's like 300 pages of fake-physics world-building strung together with random happenstance.

I still liked reading it, for the most part, but I could not get over the fact that random things kept happening, the climax of the book was a random occurrence that the main characters were barely more than bystanders of, and, I cannot emphasize this enough, there was no plot.
