The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
4.0
A strong 4.5 stars for me, I loved The Thursday Night Murder Club!
I’m not a big crime/mystery reader, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read a book written by the fantastic Richard Osmand that featured a group of enthusiastic detectives based in a retirement village. Pure gold.
I all in all thought this was ace. I could have done without a few of the throwaway, stereotypical ‘what I can/can’t say nowadays’ comments, as I think they didn’t do justice to the complexity of the characters. The plot at times, particularly towards the end, could have done with some additional fine tuning, but I found myself hooked regardless.
I started reading this booked after hearing mostly mixed reviews, so had low expectations. In hindsight I’m so glad I picked it up, it exceeded all expectations, and was a genuinely funny and enjoyable read.
I am BUZZING for the next book!
