A Touch of Malice by Scarlett St. Clair
5.0
Just gonna preface this by saying that I am solely giving this book 5 ⭐️ for the ending alone, everything else was alright lol
Am I totally invested in this series because I love Scarlett? Absolutely, and I’ll continue reading because I think she’s an amazing author, but honestly this was my least favorite book out of the three.
While Persephone’s character grows a ton in this book and we finally see her embracing herself (the good and the bad), I feel like Hades’s character does the opposite. He’s moodier, more possessive, and super secretive about some pretty important things, but that just gets swept under the rug with some extra spicy sex.
Which, speaking of, the book is not lacking in spice at all. It’s definitely the smuttiest out of the three, and I’m here for it (mostly). I wish it was more focused on the Triad plot, which seemed a bit rushed with the whole Helen thing and then tons of murder and terrorism. I think fleshing that out about more in between the every other page sex scenes would have been pretty dope instead of cramming it all in to the last half of the book.
When we do finally get into the main action of the book—enter the Olympians and the Triad, things get really good. There’s tons of drama and suspense, and then the book ends in a completely unexpected way that has me dying for the fourth book.
So, overall it was good, but the ending is what really made the book.
