I will be the first to admit I didn’t know what I was getting myself into - this is my first dark romance and I will definitely be reading the next one in the series.

I like the characters. I like the premise, but I struggled too. I wanted a bit more description of plot and the games rather than jumping forward all over the place. I wanted more Lark (so I am STOKED for book too) and I’d have rather had a build up to love rather than insta-love, but those are just my preferences.

I will say, I struggled reading this too, but the audiobook is absolutely fantastic. I am so glad I picked it up because it’s an absolute treat. It’s more of like an audio drama rather than just a book and that made this so much more entertaining and I adored the banter acted out rather than just reading. 5/5 for the audio.

Overall, good book. Won’t be my favorite, but I had a good time and would recommend if you like dark, super steamy romance. Comparable title would be the Mindf*ck series by S.T. Abby
