It's funny, this feels more like a debut novel than The Bluest Eye. Not because it is lacking anything--it isn't-- or being it is rushed or trying to do too much or any of the other things you see in early work. Sula is just a more linear, straightforward novel.

I'm trying to work my way through as much of her work as I can this year and I'll be interested to see how her style changes.
