Demon Love Spell, Volume 1 by Mayu Shinjō

2.0

You know, the one good thing about Mayu Shinjo's recent work is that she appears to have caught a sense of humour about it. She used to write the usual Gross Shoujo paradigm: tall, dark, walking sexual harassment case meets the innocent and embodies rape culture in his pursuit of her. Now -- well, okay, she still writes that dude but she's also equally dedicated to mocking him. I'm pretty sure her thought process for this manga went something like 'incubus are hot! but you know what would be hilarious? what if a shrine maiden shrunk him down to pocket doll size and dressed him up accordingly? yep, that would definitely be gr8. :DDDD' I appreciate work written for the lulz just as much as the next girl. 2 stars
