Dragonflight, Book 1 by Brynne Stephens, Anne McCaffrey
3.75
I love reading graphic novel adaptations of favourite novels, there's something really nice about seeing events play out through illustrations - and especially when they involve dragons.
The writing in this adaptation was not always the best. At times the dialogue felt clunky and perhaps more suited to a children's book. There were also many aspects of the plot and worldbuilding which were left unexplained - most notably what thread actually is, which is a pretty significant omission. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the adaptation to somebody who hasn't first read the original novel, I suspect they could be quite confused.
Overall I found this a very nostalgic read, and would recommend to Pern fans as an enjoyable curiosity. I can definitely see myself rereading this in future.
