Irish Thoroughbred by Nora Roberts
1.5
irish thoroughbred is an 80s romance novel about an irish farmer who moves to her uncle's american horse ranch after her family in ireland dies.
to be honest, irish thoroughbred definitely has some misogyny problems.. adelia is not taken seriously by any man in this novel, despite her being skilled at horse taming on a near mary-sue level. i'm attributing both the casual misogyny and mary-sue thing as a product of it being written in 1981.
adelia is so immature it's actually impressive. travis has his own plentiful character flaws including the misogyny and overbearingly possessive thing but how does he see anything in adelia at all besides her physical appearance? tbh he's so shallow it might actually just be about her physical appearance for him.
the plot is???? halfway through, the story takes a turn and just gets so crazy and out of left field like if you had any sense of immersion before the halfway point it will be gone
really i hated this book. the plot was stupid and corny and the prose was pretty awful. still, i have faith in nora roberts.. obv an 80s debut is probably awful compared to her current work lol whos hype for blithe images
