Heart Words by Nora Everly
2.0
I really wanted to like this book but I really didn't enjoy it, there were aspects that I absolutely loved but for the most part, I really didn't enjoy it.
Elements I enjoyed/liked:
- I enjoyed the scenes that featured Rose's kindergarten class because the author truly captured the childlike essence in all the "kid" characters in this book. They were loveable, adorable, cute and whenever they were featured in a chapter/scene in the book, it just made me want to smile
- I loved the references to the title in the book
Elements I didn't enjoy/like:
- It felt extremely insta-lovey (something I REALLY don't like in books), this could possibly be because it was a companion novel and the second in a series
- The chapters were extremely long
- It was very repetitive which made this hard to read because I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over and over again in different words which made me feel less inclined to pick up the book and I actually found myself skimming through chapters and skipping pages
- This book honestly could have been 100 pages shorter, because the last 100 pages felt like the introduction to a completely new storyline that wasn't necessarily influenced by the earlier pages
Overall 2.5 stars
