I heard about this book when the author appeared on the Pod Save the UK Podcast. This is a a fascinating account of the forces in politics, the media, and business that have landed Britain where it is now- in recession with declining public institutions (the NHS) that were once the envy of the world. The author shows that this happened by design in some cases and by negligence in others. It is a bit depressing because solutions seem so difficult to implement. There were some nuances I missed as a non-UK resident. It was comforting to realize we are not alone in the US with broken political, cultural, and economic conditions.
