I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver

5.0

I read this book and Symptoms of Being Human within the same week, and let me tell you, I enjoyed I Wish You All the Best so much more.

I loved seeing the sibling relationship between Ben and Hannah, and how instantly supportive she is of them. Seeing them work through their residual issues together during their therapy session brought me to tears. I really love family, and especially sibling, dynamics like this where they go through hardships together and come out stronger.

Obviously the situation surrounding their hardships is nothing to discount. I hated Ben's parents. I was glad that they were able to get out of the situation they were in at the beginning of the book and had a place to go in Hannah and Thomas. I had a bad feeling when their parents got in touch with Ben wanting to meet with them, and it was only confirmed when they showed up at Ben's art show and caused a scene that sent Ben into an Anxiety attack. (And yes, I'm aware that Hannah was at fault too, but she's easier to forgive.) It was incredibly satisfying to see Ben able to cut off their connection to them in the end.

Next, the romance! Ben and Nathan's relationship is one of my favorite relationship dynamics (the enthusiastic, outgoing one and the shy, reserved one)! I loved watching them develop and was rooting for them from the beginning!

I really loved this book, and it's one of my new favorite books!
