Pulse by Adriana Locke is a grumpy-sunshine, coworkers-to-lovers (bodyguard x assistant) contemporary romance. The story overall was a fast-paced read, and will work well for readers that love quick reads with a feeling of insta-love that get right to the spice.

Because the feeling of insta-love isn't something I like that much, this book didn't work well for me. To be fair, the characters knew each other for two years, but because that's off-page, the reader doesn’t get to see any of that, causing the romantic connection in the book felt quite instantaneous. I think some added flashbacks might have helped me feel like there was more tension. The lack of back stories in this book for the characters also had me feeling like something was missing. I did end up skimming a good part of this book to get to the end.

I love other stories by Adriana, but this one wasn't my favorite of hers.
