Happy Trail by Daisy Prescott

3.0

Ugh. I don't know how to rate this book. More then 2 stars, less then 3....so I'll round up to 3 because it wasn't painful to read. It was a little boring though. Also, I love the cover.

I'm completely onboard with the setting and the set-up of this book. It wasn't like anything I've read before or even seen in the romance world. I wanted to love it. Unfortunately so much fell flat. Both main characters felt underdeveloped and ultimately had little to no chemistry. At one point in the story Olive thinks to herself that Jay should find a local girl to be with and my immediate reaction was, "yeah he should!". Not great when you don't care about or understand why the protagonists would get together.

The final 3-4 chapters felt like some life had been breathed into the story! The humor clicked more (actually existed), the two of them seemed to have stuff in common finally, and the 'secrets' that weren't worth being made such a big deal of were all out. If the rest of the book had had a little more of that feel it might've worked better for me.
