One Last Summer was a perfect way to start off summer reading season. A book about friendship, burn out, decades long feelings and finding oneself.
Our main character Clara is forced to take a “micro” sabbatical when her boss recognizes that she is burnt out and running on fumes. Clara begrudgingly accepts the forced leave and decides to finally join her old camp friends for their yearly reunion, of which she’s missed over the past 4 years. After receiving a letter from her 13 year old self she realizes she has not accomplished anything she thought she would have in her mid 30s. A week of action packed nostalgic camp traditions and an attempt to reconnect with her friends leaves Clara confused as to what it really means to be accomplished in life.
This was a cute and light romance with lovable and diverse characters. I adored the friendship and the romance and found myself rooting for these characters until the very end.
Thank you to Forever books and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.
