I read this collection of seasonal spooky tales over the Christmas period, finishing appropriately enough, on January 6, Old Christmas Day. It is a wonderful and eclectic assemblage of chilling tales with a gothic atmosphere, and ideal if you love a Christmas ghost or horror story. Within the pages you will find murderous deeds, rustles in the hedgerows, and dark shadows with watchful eyes crouching in the corners. My personal favourite was the final story by Laura Purcell, Carol of the Bells and Chains, with Krampus terrorizing the young charges of a governess. Wonderful, spooky fun.
