Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

1.0

i thought i was smarter than to fall for advertisement. why did i ever thought to read a book that youtubers recommend to their fans? maybe just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. having no one else to blame i cant really be angry at mrs rooney for her insufferable characters . being born and raised in a third world country in the middle east, its really interesting to see how white first-world people talk about issues that are a matter of life and death for the unprivileged as an abstract philosophical/ideological conflict for debate; like it's there for them just to show off how smart and well-read they are, some sort of intellectual exercise. to argument about these subjects is to win so they can feel superior, an opportunity to boost their ego. in practice not that different from discussions about sport teams, or marvel vs dc.
