Meet Me Under the Ombu Tree by Santa Montefiore

5.0

Meet Me Under the Ombu Tree is a very emotion-filled story.
It is filled with themes such as family, love (true love, forbidden love) friendships, regret and forgiveness.

We mainly follow Sofia, as a child, as a teenager and later as an adult. Through her life, we see her struggle with a relationship with her mother, and build a connection with her grandfather. She finds her place in the family and the location where she grew up. We also see her emotions evolve into deeper ones. The story continues and when a secret as well as a scandal comes to light, her own new life begins, away from her hometown, family and the person she loves most. The chapters we read follow their lifetimes as they grow older and learn more about themselves and their families.

The story is filled with various people, and with their hearts streaming out into the pages. The story takes you to different settings, in different times. You get to know some characters, others come and go. But the main character goes through multiple challenges in her life. It is emotional and moving, and after the story ends, it doesn't leave you.
