It took me a minute to get used to the writing style but once I did, I was completely sucked into the story and was captivated till the end. I was rooting for Korede the entire timeā¦but the ending however was such a twist that I was not expecting but should have.
As I read, my frustration with both sisters grew. Ayoola is so self involved, so selfish, so naive, so vain...and Korede is her opposite. She's too giving, too quiet, too selfless, too much of a doormat.
Braithwaite's debut is bold. It's a clever, witty, quick read. After finishing it, my first thought was "What on earth did I just read?!?! What was that ending?!?!"
Highly recommended.
