Review: The Veiled Kingdom is perfect for anyone who enjoys Hollyโs books or wants to take a dive into a new high action fantasy world! Nyra & Dacre were perfection in this book and I loved the slow burn Holly gives us between these two. The way Holly crafted the story behind each of the MCs and the side characters added to the storyline since each one held a vital piece of the rebellion forming against Nyraโs father. I found the mystery surrounding Nyra and her past the most intriguing part in this book!
Dacre was the MAN for me! I absolutely loved him and found the antagonistic way he held onto Nyra a huge hint for the future. The moral conflict he has within himself towards her also drew me in and Holly really did an amazing job with creating the two sides of his character. The way he fought against wanting her and the way he also fought off all her enemies showed just how deep she had dug under his skin and I LOVED every agonizing second of it! Dacre was also a male full of shock and the dirty mouth he had was truly something I should have seen coming but was still a wonderful surprise!
Nyraโs story in this book was both tragic and beautiful. The way she slowly built confidence and overcame a few of her past demons was amazing to read and I also enjoyed how she never backed down completely for Dacre. Holly was able to craft her innocence and naivety really well in this book and I am excited to see how the end of this book affects her character development. One area that stood out to me about Nyra was the inner goodness that she had even in the face of pain and tragedy. Her willingness to better herself and join the rebellion even if it was for selfish reasons at first was a huge character draw.
Nyra & Dacre are FULL of the angst and witty banter Holly is known for! There was never a dull moment between them and the push and pull between these two was INTENSE! I found myself hanging onto every encounter in this book since I knew Holly would throw us for a huge loop at the end (which she did!!). The way Dacre enthralls Nyra and pulls her into his web of seduction is also perfect since neither is truly aware of the pull they have on each other and the irony of them possibly being mates made me cackle. Holly was delivers us another wonderful book boyfriend in this book and I cannot wait to see where she takes us in book 2 after the HUGE cliffhanger Dacre leaves us with in this book!
Rating: 5/5, a thrilling introduction into this all new fantasy world!
Thank you Holly Renee for this ARC!
