The Man From Spirit Creek by Barbara Kyle

4.0

Liv, is 1/3 of the Falcon Dream Team, the dynamic trio who heads up the oil and gas firm. She creates a new identity, packs up her younger sister, and heads to Spirit Creek to get close to the mysterious and well-hated man, Tom Wainscott, the saboteur who stands between her firm being able to pump sour gas on the land that Falcon desperately want. She wants to find pump him for information to benefit her company, but the more she learns, the more she finds herself conflicted. On her quest, she finds herself entangled in a web of threats, danger, deceit, corruption, and a struggle with right and wrong as she inches closer to this Man from Spirit Creek.

This was a wonderful read-full of twists, suspense, mystery and a hint of romance. I loved the added details on the history of how the sour gas had wreaked havoc on the families and how deeply committed Tom was to saving the land, that held fond memories and promise. The setting was so vividly depicted I could clearly visualize it in my mind. I really enjoyed the story of the battle between the energy company and Tom, along with the balance of likable/unlikable characters; each of them had added depth in their stories, even the secondary characters.

A wonderful and captivating read! I would love to see this come to life on the big screen.
