Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People about Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge

5.0

Loved her scathing critique of White Feminism, because everything about it was so eloquently put. She verbalised all my feelings towards White Feminists perfectly, especially about how discussing race in those kinds of circles can sometimes feel like you're risking being dog-piled - even if you're just expressing your own experience that might not resonate with that audience. Her opinions on left-wing journalists/writers who also have an open disdain for "identity politics" was particularly poignant too - especially as a leftist, myself. Eddo-Lodge really opened debate on whether these leftists truly care about "the left-behind" when they try to separate race and class, and pretending as if poor PoC are non-existent. Also notable was her comment on how she did not notice her privilege as being an able-bodied individual - I have been trying to be more aware of this too, so this comment was a welcome reminder!
