Where The Handmaid’s Tale feels prescient, The Testaments feels reactive. The novel lacks the urgency of its predecessor.
The writing is good, but I don’t feel like the novel is necessary. Fans demanding answers to what happens after the book’s conclusion is not reason enough to write a second book.
