Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier

This was so different from what I thought it might be about. I was anticipating fantasy but I am so sure this wasn't that at all but I still liked it well. It gave me classics feels. The plot revolved around a girl living in forest with her uncle, their housemaid and her son, and some handymen for work now and then. The girl never knew outside world. There is a tv series called Hanna, this story had similar vibes. This guy from city shows up, the girl gets attached and all. The guy leaves shortly because of the uncle and the girl finds out that her father is actually prisoned in the city. Read to find out why the uncle was so opposed to the outsider cuz that's sure twisted. Anyway, so the girl wants to go to city without her uncle since he was unwell to see her father and how she feels when she first visits city.

It was actually a very well written story and so very unique, I like how it presented the primal nature of forests and survival to contrasting urban life. How the two central characters were different yet similar. How the twist of fates was portrayed. It was a brilliant piece of literature.
