Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe

This book would have been a three star for me at the very max but after reading all the comments it down to two stars.
I didn't mind the art because I know everyone has different artstyles, and I personally really like eerie artstyles and have read alot of manhwas with really bad, art so getting used to the author's art wasn't much of a problem. I dont really like fanfiction in general so I didn't care much about the author's interest in it and thus didn't realise there was an incest ship untill people pointed it out. (I don't even know who sam and Dean are and what fandom they are from)
See, I generally avoid reading the comments to not have any biased thoughts/opinions but even after that most of the time I was feeling pretty meh. I got into this book expecting to learn about gender identity, but what I thought was the author having gender identity crisis and em understanding and finding eirselves it ended up being internalised misogyny (as many of the reviews have pointed out), and when I thought about it from that point of view it made sense because most non-binary person doesn't really indentify as either a male or a female but in case of the author e really wanted to a male considering how much e fantasised about having male genitals and hated on eir feminine attributes on an extreme level.
I'm yet to learn alot about gender identity but this book just wasn't it. My opinion on this might change once I have learnt more but for now I agree with the people who did not like this book

As a south asian myself I found this book very offensive. It's as if the knew things about the Indian culture but never experienced it.
