I read my first Freida McFadden book last night and was very…underwhelmed.

It was slow.
Too long.
Repetitive.
Only one likeable character.
Shoes. So many shoes.
And that last reveal in the epilogue felt forced.

I was so looking forward to a thriller that gripped me and didn’t let me go until the book was over but The Teacher just didn’t do it for me.

I tried so hard but this book sucked the life out of me.

Hunger Games + Divergent + space + Greek mythology???

I’m so lost.

I don’t think I breathed the entire time I read this book.

Logically I know I did but it was like my body didn’t register it. I was out of breath, heart racing, panicky.

How do you recover from a book like this? The amount of emotion in the pages was something I wasn’t prepared for. A psychological survival thriller isn’t supposed to make me cry my eyes out!

I stayed awake until 2 am reading and then even longer after that because I was so keyed up I couldn’t sleep.

Falling, by the same author, knocked my socks off. But this? This was a work of art. A masterpiece. A tour de force.

One word - TENSE.

The twists were twisty.
The thrills were thrilling.
The edge of my seat was sat on.
The pages were turned with ferocity.

Seriously, read. this. book. Especially if you’re like me and already don’t like flying because that brought a whole other level of intensity to it.
