This book was really good!! the story over all was great. the plot started right away, and there wasn't a dull moment throughout the story. the plot twist at the end was actually insane!! Kallias is so amazing and such a powerful king, and Alessandra is just a full bad b that knows exactly what she wants. they both had some MAJOR character development throughout the book that was really great! the only thing i didn't particularly enjoy about the book, is that i felt like there was a lot of plot elements that needed more description, and i would have liked to see some more in-depth aspects to the book. however it was a very fast paced and easy read! and over all was really good!
tropes:
* Enemies to lovers
* magic/fantasy
* courtship of convince

this book was so so so good! I loved it so much. Holly Black never fails to creat such amazing fantasy worlds that make me want to just fully dive in and never come out. The character development for Wren was absolutely amazing and the betrayal she is constantly facing was crazy!!!!! I loved Oak and getting to see how the little prince from the Folk of The Air series grew up into his own person. the end was the biggest cliff hanger i think.... EVER so be prepared. the enemies to lovers was mostly enemying through the book. We got a few cute moments but the tension is gel building up.

There is genuinely nothing wrong with this book, it just wasn't my favorite. It was 100% just a sweet little contemporary romance and it did an amazing job at what it was meant for. I think fantasy romance has ruined me. Anyways. The book was super cute, but i had a hard time getting into and then staying into it. I honestly skimmed everything but the good parts. so i really only actually read about 40% of this book. However! the fake dating/dating practice was super cute. I loved how much Caleb loved and cared for Layla. from the jump he noticed every little thing about her down to the color she wears on a specific day of the week. I also loved how they built each other up so much. Going into the book they were both very insecure but in the end they had helped each other work through those insecurities so they could truly be the best version of themselves. The romance was definitely very cute and cheesy. I would definitely recommend this book! i just didn't really enjoy reading it personally, but the parts of it that i did like, i LOVED.

Literally perfection. an actual master piece. this book was so good. It had me on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time. genuinely. it was that good. the plot twists were crazy, but after they happened i'd think back and they made total sense. there was never anything that was like "well that's just stupid" it was always "NO FING WAY". Violet is such an amazing FMC. she is so strong and courageous. and know show to make the best out of a sucky situation. her character development was also soooo good. i loved how she started to finally believe in herself. Now don't even get me started on Xaden because oh. my. gosh. literally for the enemies to lovers was so great. and Rebecca Yarros did such an amazing job with Xaden that even when i should have hated him i literally could not. he is just so perfect and gorgeous and judt urghhhhh i love him. Now for the fantasy aspect of the book, amazing! the dragons were so interesting and the attention to detail on the bond between rider and dragon was crazy. the trope of dragon rider is definitely used constantly in fantasy and usually follows the same patterns (don't get me wrong i ADORE it anyways) but not in this book. i've never read a book with the dragons trope that did it in this way (i won't say which way it was so you all can find out on your own while reading) but needless to say like everything else in this book it was amazing!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
This book was extremely intriguing. I could never see the plot twists coming, but once they happened everything made sense. I usually don’t like 3rd person because I find it harder to immerse myself in the world that the author creates but Stephanie Garber wrote this book so well that I genuinely felt like I was in the world of Caraval at times. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, and constantly questioning what’s gonna happen next. On the character front *chef’s kiss* Scarlet is a character that any older sister can relate to. No matter what was happening at the end of the day she just wanted to save her sister. Scarlet also had some intense character development, and by the end of the book had changed so much for the better. She went from timid and constantly scared, to daring and willing to take risks. The romance in this book was also done very well. It wasn’t the main plot, but was a very important side plot that helped the develop the story a lot. Julian is a character with so many layers that I can’t even describe it. This book was definitely more dystopian than fantasy, but still had some beautiful magical elements. Over all this is a really great read, and I’m excited for the next one.
Tropes:
* Slow burn
* its only a game
* siblings relationship
* creating your one destiny
Trigger warning: Paternal Abuse, and Suicide

Where to even begin with this book. so basically, stephanie ATE. this book was so good. the plot was amazing, and took so many turns I never expected, but was also very easy to follow. I loved scarlet in the last book, but overall I feel like Tella is a much more interesting character. She has so many more layers than scarlet, and I just want to see her succeed. I’m not even going to talk about the love interest to keep this from being spoiler free, because holy crap. It was not what I thought, but at the same time it was (I know that’s confusing but I swear when you read the book it will make sense). All of the new characters that were introduced were amazing, and I’m so excited to see how they progress in the next book. Elantine was probably my favorite. Although she got very little page time there is just something about a powerful little old lady that doesn’t put up with anyone’s bs that I love. Over all this book was so good and definitely worth a read. It isn’t just a copy and paste of the first one with another game of Caraval, but instead is an intricate story with amazing characters.
