Rosa, Minha Irmã Rosa by Alice Vieira

|Rating| 4.5 stars.
|MINUS| Nada.

♡ Just when you think you can't go on, somewhere a little light comes on. ♡
Such a good surprise!! After almost 2 months of a major reading slump, this book was such a nice read and totally got me out of it. Sophie's Flack writing and description is simple and beautiful. I felt connected to the characters and to the plot. I could totally picture myself following Hannah, the main character, walking through MBA and get attached to her. I think Sophie does a gob job filling the reader on what's like being in a ballet academy and all the effort to become a soloist.
I think the ending was expected but nonetheless it was perfect!

Good way to start the new year!
Read it in portuguese and loved it; but hated it at the same time, because I think the translation wasn't that good. However, I still loved this book. The last chapters were like just WOW WOW WOW.
The main character is really funny and I liked her pov.
Looking forward to read the next one!

I wasn't expecting liking this so much as I did!
Although the plot isn't something extraordinary, I still enjoyed some nice twists.
I loved the characters and their dynamics. I suffered for them, especially for Carrie and Nathan.
I'll be continued with the series.

"We're all worth it, man. We're all worth millions of planets and stars and galaxies and universes." - River Phoenix
Last Sunday I watched Stand By Me for the first time ever.
I really enjoyed the movie, so the first thing I did after watching was to google it. I saw next to the info, pictures of the boys, now all turned into men. All but one. The picture of River Phoenix showed a teenage boy. Immediately I assumed he had died. I wasn't familiar with any of the boys before seeing the movie, just with Cory Feldman because of Goonies. I remember seeing a movie named The Thing Called Love and was sad to discover that the pretty boy of the movie had died. The thing is they are the same person, River Phoenix. When River died in October 1993, I was just 7 months old. Nevertheless after watching these movies, and now reading this book, somehow it feels I lost someone I once knew.
I really loved this book, it was well written and put. I think it is a great book for fans of River Phoenix. Not only did the author told his life story till his tragic and unfortunate death, but also talked about other well known actors and musicians that somehow had a connection with River. I couldn't help but to feel sad about his death since he had a promising career as an actor. Although he turned to alcohol and drugs to ease of the pressure he had upon his shoulders, he was a good guy. As former girlfriend, Martha Plimpton, said: "He was just a boy, a very good-hearted boy, who was very fucked up and had no idea how to implement his good intentions."
The last few chapters were hard of me to read, especially the description of his death. I couldn't help but cry.
This is now one of my favorite books and nonetheless, I have respect for River Phoenix and all he was.
|PLUS| All the quotes and statements.
|MINUS| The Epilogue.

I had this book on my self for over a year. It was one of the first books I bought after discovering booktube.
I hadn't much expectations for this book and it felt to me like a "meh" book. I'm not saying that it isn't good or is bad written, I just think it wasn't for me. One thing I enjoyed was the relationship between Mary Quinn and James Easton. I liked the bantering and how the author didn't rush anything between them. Not thinking about continue with this series.
